Per MWD Operating Policy F-02

  • Directors, employees, their spouses, and dependent children are prohibited from receiving, directly or indirectly, any surplus Metropolitan personal property.


-Pick up will only be on the days allotted; Friday October 31st and Monday November 3rd, 2025.
-Call as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for pick up

  • If you cannot pick up the items on the allotted dates, please DO NOT submit a bid
  • The pickup days are firm and cannot be changed.
  • Those are the only available pick-up dates. Failure to collect any items on the pickup dates shall deem the item abandoned and forfeited by the awarded bidder

Guarantee Waiver

  • All property is offered for sale AS-IS, WHERE-IS.
    • Metropolitan Water District makes no warranty, guaranty or representation of any kind, expressed or implied, as to the condition, usability, value, merchantability, authenticity, or fitness for any purpose of the property offered for sale. Some or all items may have been declared unsafe in their present condition by a federal or state safety standard. Buyers should inspect and, if necessary, repair/test all items prior to any use. Buyer is not entitled to any payment for loss of profit or any other money damages, including but not limited to special, direct, indirect, or consequential damages
  • SALES TAX, if applicable, are to be paid to DMV when registering the vehicle.
    • ***Vehicles are not SMOG tested. This will be your responsibility if you register the vehicle in California
  • Sales Tax Removal
    • The buyer needs to submit to MWD a completed and signed California Resale Certificate with a valid CA Seller’s permit number at the time of purchase. 
    • For items sold to Out of CA buyers, there needs to be sufficient documentation to prove that the item purchased will be for Out-of-State use.
  • Examples of documentations:
    • *The Out-of-State buyer should provide his/her Driver’s license copy with an Out-of-State address.

* If the buyer purchases items for his/her employer who is out of state; the buyer needs to provide proof that the purchase is originated from a business located outside of CA.

* If the item is shipped to the buyer via carriers, the delivery address should show an Out-of-CA address.

  • Indemnification.
    • Bidder agrees for and on behalf of bidder, bidder's heirs, successors and assigns that bidder shall indemnify and hold Metropolitan Water District harmless from and against any claim, demand or cause of action arising or alleged to have arisen out of the sale or failure to sell any item of surplus property including claims for personal or bodily injury, death or contract damages
  • YOUR BID IS THE SAME AS A CONTRACT.
    • By submitting a bid, the bidder agrees that the bidder has read, fully understood, and       accepted the Terms and Conditions of Online Sales, and agrees to pay for and remove the property, if the bid is accepted, by the dates and times specified
  • Acceptable forms of payment are:

    • NO CASH, CHECKS, OR MONEY ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!
  • Items not paid for within the allotted 5 CALENDAR DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSING DATE the bidder will be BLOCKED from bidding in future auctions.
  • Default.
    • Default shall include (1) failure to observe these terms and conditions; (2) failure to make good and timely payment; or (3) failure to remove all items within the specified time. Default may result in termination of the bid contract and suspension from participation in all future sales until the default has been cured. If the Buyer fails in the performance of their obligations, Metropolitan Water District may retain Buyer's bid deposit and exercise such rights and pursue such remedies as are provided by law.
  • If the winning bidder does not come forward the auction MAY be awarded to the next highest bidder or re-listed.
  • If you are picking up an item for someone else, you will need to bring the Notice of Award and the Paid Receipt (photocopies are acceptable), plus a note/email from the designated winning bidder specifically naming you as authorized representative, along with your own personal picture identification. In addition, you must arrange for the winning bidder to send an e-mail from the winning bidder e-mail address used for the auction, stating that you are authorized to pick-up the item

Metropolitan Water District may require a bid deposit.


PayMac handles all payments for Metropolitan Water District.


Acceptable forms of payment are: Wire Transfer or Credit Card.

NO CASH, CHECKS, OR MONEY ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!


Payment for an awarded item must be received within five (5) Calendar days after notice of award.



Metropolitan Water District may charge applicable sales tax [9.50%]. The tax rate will be calculated at the time of bidding. When sales tax is included, the buyer shall add and include the sales tax amount when making payment.


A Buyers Premium of 10.5% will be added to the final sale price with a $1 minimum charge per auction for payment collections. This premium if applicable will be visible during the bidding process and added to the total bid.


All sales are final. Public Surplus will notify buyer of receipt of payment via email.


The successful bidder will be responsible for pick-up of item(s) from the agency's premises. Pick-up must occur during the allotted dates. The notice of award, payment receipt, and personal identification must be presented at time of pick-up, or the item will not be released.



The successful bidder will be responsible for packing, and/or loading any item(s) at pick-up, if necessary.
