The American Canyon Fire Protection District, a Special District fire agency in Napa County, California, is auctioning a 2004 American LaFrance / Freightliner Metropolitan Custom Cab fire engine, affectionately known as “Bertha.”

Bertha proudly served our community for many years and is now ready for her next assignment as the District upgrades its fleet. With her distinctive green color, she offers excellent visibility day or night and carries the strong presence expected from a full-size fire engine.

• Model: Metropolitan Custom Cab
• Engine: Detroit Diesel Series 60 – 455 HP
• Transmission: Allison 4000EVS

• Water Tank: 500 Gallons
• Foam System: Foam Pro (A/B – 20 Gallons)
• Mileage: Approximately 79,096 miles

Pump Hours

No pump hour meter is currently installed, as the pump boss is not the original unit. Based on the industry estimate of approximately one hour of pump use per week during service, pump usage is estimated at approximately 1,100 hours. For full disclosure, actual pump hours could be up to 2,000 hours.

Bertha is in good condition with normal wear consistent with fire service use and was operational when removed from service as part of a planned fleet upgrade.

This apparatus could make an excellent addition to a fire department, training academy, industrial facility, ranch property, emergency response program, or a collector of classic fire apparatus.

Appointments to inspect the apparatus may be arranged by contacting:
